Now here’s a dinner reservation we’d fly around the world for: an alfresco table for two at Helena Bay Lodge, on the northeast tip of New Zealand’s North Island. The five-suite property recently introduced a series of immersive experiences, including over-the-top helicopter tours and an all-day catch-and-cook adventure in the South Pacific that culminates with a private meal at the secluded lodge’s new beach pavilion. Pair seared tuna with a local pinot noir from the 1,000-bottle wine cellar and watch the sunset over the Poor Knights Islands before turning in for the night. Don’t worry if your sailing style is more soak-up-the-sun than reel-in-a-kingfish – next year, Helena Bay will debut a custom-built, 45-foot yacht, ideal for lazy days and dinners at sea.
