Now, this is jet-setting: One afternoon you’re at an agave field in Tequila, Mexico, sipping the spirit in its birthplace; a few hours later, you’re 1,400 miles east on the beach in Playa del Carmen, ice cold margarita in hand. Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is answering the call for authentic travel experiences with a new collection of extravagant trips that are (literally) raising the bar on luxury. The hotel group teamed up with a private aviation company on new itineraries in Mexico, the Caribbean, and the UK that combine private flights, resorts stays, and exclusive culinary adventures.
Tequila is the common denominator on a custom trip that includes suite stays at Arizona’s 750-room Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and in Playa del Carmen. In addition to the private-jet jaunt to Tequila (on a Legacy 450 jet), the itinerary features a dinner with celebrity chef Richard Sandoval, a yacht charter to Cozumel, tequila-infused spa treatments, and, yes, plenty of tasting time with master distillers.
In the Caribbean, a Barbados-to-Bermuda adventure includes butler-serviced suite accommodations at the 75-room Fairmont Royal Pavilion and the 593-room Fairmont Southampton, plus private rum-blending and tasting sessions, spa treatments, and more. The highlight: A behind-the-scenes visit to the St. Nicholas Abbey rum distillery on Barbados, where some of the world’s finest rums are produced. For those who prefer tonics to the tropics, a stay at the 267-room Savoy in London comes with an excursion south to Hampshire for a private tour and gin masterclass at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery, plus an array of private dinners and gin tastings back in London.
Each trip comes with souvenirs befitting the VIP-level travel arrangements: A limited-edition bottle of 888 Tres Ochos Tequila in Mexico (there are only 1,000 in the world), for example, and a custom-blended, rum-inspired fragrance from the Lili Bermuda Perfumery.
These over-the-top experiences start at $185,000 for groups of six to eight, including round-trip private-jet flights from your point of origin, suite accommodations, transfers, and highlighted trip activities. They’re fully customizable (a quick pit stop for some mezcal in Mexico City, perhaps?) and available through the end of the year.
