Skincare guru April Gargiulo hydrates for journeys near and far.

April Gargiulo spent more than two years perfecting her now-cult-favorite Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum. Given that she only recently expanded her line to include a second product, her minimalist packing style should come as no surprise: She always carries on – and in a well-loved Tumi at that. Gargiulo travels to fuel her imagination and often meets with her line’s stockists and ingredient purveyors around the world. Pre-kids, she and her husband, Mitch, spent a year in Spain and took a memorable road trip from Barcelona to Lake Como. “The highlights were a wild dinner at La Petite Maison and staying at Villa d’Este,” she says. “Now that we have kids, we take 72-hour international trips, which sounds crazy, but we love it.” This summer, the family will settle in for a longer sojourn to Madrid, Valencia, Milan, and Lake Como. “We’re scouting locations for a family sabbatical,” she says. Sounds like a recipe for inspiration.

I don’t leave home without:

1. A Tumi carry-on I’ve had for 30 years.

Vintner's Daughter products

2. Vintner’s Daughter Active Treatment Essence for hydration, firming, and micro-exfoliation, and Active Botanical Serum for moisture, brightening, and balance.

3. My iPad with books. I’m reading The Overstory by Richard Powers and will be sad when I finish it.

4. A Proenza Schouler trench I bought on The RealReal.

Nike Epic React Flyknit sneakers

5. Nike Epic React Flyknit sneakers and workout gear.

Dandelion Chocolate

6. Really good dark chocolate. I stash it everywhere and always buy more on the trip.

7. A black knit midi dress by The Row that doesn’t wrinkle.

8. Vintage jewelry from Metier in San Francisco.

9. A super-old, oversize black cashmere Jil Sander sweater.
